Second article out in the EXPOSING-project in Nordic Journal of Media Studies
Using the exposure of influencer and literary critic Katherine Diez in early 2024 as a case, this EXPOSING-publication shows how two logics, the logic of influencers and the logic of news media, co-created an authenticity scandal, compromising not only the main component of the persona construction in influencer culture, i.e. the performance of authenticity, but also the foundation of the news media logic, i.e. trustworthiness, truth, and fact-checking.
