Orbáns Hungary – The First Autocracy in the EU
A talk by associate professor Miklós Sükösd, a media scholar and political scientist at the Department of Communication at the University of Copenhagen.
The Danish parliamentary election is dominating media coverage these days, but it is not the only election we can look forward to. On 12 April, Hungarians will go to the polls to vote on whether their head of government for more than 15 years, Viktor Orbán, should be granted four more years in power.
Associate Professor Miklós Sükösd, a media scholar and political scientist from the University of Copenhagen, will provide an overview of the political and media situation in Hungary. In his presentation “Orbán’s Hungary – The First Autocracy in the EU” he will shed light on how the once progressive Hungarian politician Orbán has become a European nightmare - and the dream of the American right.
The presentation will be in English, but with the opportunity of asking questions in Danish.
