‘Refn-style movement’ in Danish visual culture and public realm design

Bruce Peter and David Sweeney from the Glasgow School of Art deliver talks on aspects of Danish visual culture and public realm design with the prominent theme of 'movement'. The talks are linked through the creative activities, generations apart, of two members of a single Danish family, the artist, illustrator and stage designer Helge Refn and the filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn.

The talks build on research for three new books:

Bruce Peter: Denmark in Britain: Architecture, Design and Lifestyle from Peter Lang and DSB Design: Jens Nielsen og designprogrammet 1972-1992 from BaneBøger/Dansk Jernbane-Klub.

David Sweeney: The Films of Nicolas Winding Refn: Genre, Gender, Glamour from Liverpool University Press.

Bruce Peter is a Professor of Design History at the Glasgow School of Art. He has researched and published extensively on modern architecture and design for transport, pleasure and hospitality.

David Sweeney is a Lecturer of Design History and Theory at the Glasgow School of Art with a particular interest in popular culture, moving images, and horror/science fiction cinema/TV/literature.
