N2 - The paper presents the results from a study oninformation literacy in a higher education (HE)context based on a larger research projectevaluating 3 Norwegian IL web tutorials at 6universities and colleges in Norway. The aim wasto evaluate how the 3 web tutorials servedstudents’ information seeking and writing processin an study context and to identify barriers to theemployment and use of the IL web tutorials, henceto the underlying information literacy intentions bythe developer. Both qualitative and quantitativemethods were employed. A clear mismatch wasfound between intention and use of the webtutorials. In addition, usability only played a minorrole compared to relevance. It is concluded thatthe positive expectations of the IL web tutorialstend to be overrated by the developers.Suggestions for further research are presented.
