The purpose of this seminar is to discuss what it means to unsettle the coloniality of higher education and what the political, cultural, institutional, and pedagogical challenges of broadening epistemic diversity are. Decolonial theory may be situated in a transdisciplinary dialogue between posthuman perspectives, relational methodologies, and academic positionality and propose a curriculum that takes into consideration both the plurality of knowledges and the existential commonality of humanness. Finally, the seminar will address the decolonization trend in the Nordic universities, exploring tensions between benevolent public discourses and policies of exclusionary nationalism, cultural homogeneity, and the unquestioned normativity of whiteness.
