Abstract
What does it mean to be human? A story of information, technology, and the uniquely human
From deception to the techno-human. My endeavors within philosophy of information spans across different themes and disciplinary boundaries. Lying underneath it all is the entanglement of information, humans, and technology. How we understand the concept of information guides how we understand the world, how we address it, and how we act. Information also pertains to humans, it describes them, sticks to them, and define them and it happens within or aided by technological systems of different kinds. Further, technologies comes with implications for humans and the world – not least the digital and data hungry ones.
In this talk, I discuss the various strands of my research that collectively and in different ways try to answer the questions of what it means to be human in light of new technological developments. Through examples of some of the implications technological systems can have for humans I argue for the importance of the uniquely human in the midst of the renewed AI hype.
