Theorising and enacting a critical relational pedagogy for the future university

The talk moves from a reflection on the purposes of the university in society, seeking alternatives to widespread models based on learning taxonomies, performativity, and techno-solutionism. It contributes to the discussion about social/material conditions that affect educational practices and presents an approach defined in literature as critical relational pedagogy. Grounded in critical theory and feminist studies, this perspective challenges the idea of knowledge as absolute and foundational and understands learning as an open-ended process. Furthermore, teaching practice is considered as enacted theory and embedded with ethical and political concerns. On these grounds, thinking of the future of higher education involves studying how learning emerges from situated (hybrid) spaces and how practices of knowing to relate to the materialisation of teaching imagination.
