What speech should be permitted in universities?
Norms, policies or codes regulating speech in universities have always existed in one way or the other. As we all know, they have now become matters of contention. This raises an important general question: what norms, if any, should regulate speech in universities, and why? The aim of the workshop is to facilitate a conversation about this topic.
The workshop will feature presentations of recent work by:
- Professor Nils Holtug (philosophy)
- Associate Professor Jakob v. Holterman (law)
- Associate Professor Thomas Brudholm (minority research)
- Professor Klemens Kappel (philosophy).
Discussant at large: Professor Lisa Villadsen (rhetoric).
We aim to have fairly short presentations and ample time for joint discussion of the issues. By default, the event will be held in English, otherwise in Danish.
