Lunch seminar with presentations of ongoing research by AFMK-PhD-fellows Emilie Lehmann-Jacobsen and Julie Münter Lassen

PhD-fellow, Emilie Lehmann-Jacobsen: ”You can’t hide the facts”:
Can journalism be neutral and objective? If you ask journalists in Singapore and Vietnam the answer is yes. Accuracy is the key to good journalism and journalists are big believers in facts as the bearers of truth. Sticking to the facts is not just a tactic to avoid any potential repercussions from state and government it is also used as a shield against the growing competition from online media in an attempt to underline the difference between professional journalists and amateur commentators. But as this presentation will show, the strategy is not without consequences for the journalistic profession in both countries.

PhD-fellow, Julie Münter Lassen: "Public service television in the era of post broadcasting – empirical findings": 
From two to six channels, four times as many hours of broadcast television in 2015 as in 2005 and an online streaming platform. The digitization of the media landscape has also left its mark upon the television service of the Danish public service broadcaster DR. In this project the development of DR’s television channel portfolio is being analysed both quantitatively and qualitatively. At the seminar the main findings of these investigations will be presented. The main focus will be the relation between the linear television channels and the online catch up and streaming service DR TV.
