Section seminar: Professor Rosalin Gill from City, University London will join our section for a seminar on feminist media studies (rescheduled from December 2021). Rosalin Gill’s talk will focus on the following two questions: What does it mean to study media from a feminist angle and how has feminist media studies developed during the recent decade? A more detailed program will follow when the date approaches!

Section seminar: Professor Zrinjka Perisko, Chair at the Centre for Media and Communication Research, Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, will join Section of Media Studies to give a talk on "How can historical factors explain contemporary media systems?", based on her recent co-authored book “Comparing Post-Socialist Media Systems: The Case of Southeast Europe” (Routledge 2021).

Section seminar: Feminist media studies
This section meeting is dedicated to a research seminar with Professor Rosalin Gill (City University of London) on feminist media studies. Rosalin Gill’s talk will focus on two main questions: What does it mean to study media from a feminist angle and how has feminist media studies developed during the recent decade? The talk will also include Rosalin Gill’s current work on a book titled Feeling Judged based on a new study of young women’s lives on social media.

Section seminar: Media engagement
This section meeting is dedicated to a research seminar with Professor Annette Hill (Dept. of Communication and Media, Lund University). Annette Hill will present her current work ‘Parameters of Media Engagement’, co-authored with Professor Emeritus Peter Dahlgren. In the work, Hill and Dahlgren offer a model for theorizing media engagement through a matrix of five parameters across multiple media contexts, motivations, modalities, intensities, and consequences. The presentation will draw on a recent article published in Media Theory as well as a forthcoming monograph related to Media Engagement.
