Primary fields of research
My research focus on celebrity culture and the cultural and social significance and impact with focus on aestehtics and genres in the idgital media culture.
My research also includes contemporary filma nd tv-drama and how they as complex narratives are in dialogue with other media
in the digital media culture. My research areas include the following topics:
- Celebrityculture and the cultural and social meaning and impact, and social media
- Celebrities and influencers as role models on social media
- Social media – aesthetics and popular culture
- Film aesthetics and digital culture
- complex media fictions (film and tv-drama) in the digital media culture
- Transmedia analysis of media fictions
- Media aesthetics in the digital media culture
- Portrait documentary as genres
Current research:
I am chair of the research group: Transmedia and media culture (Tværmedialitet og mediekultur) at NorS.
Celebrity culture and activism on Instagram: I study how politicians, infleuncers and activistst communicate climate, culture and politics on social media with focus on visual aestehtcis and genres, authenticity and presentation of self.
Film and TV-drama serier in the digital film and media culture: A study of how media fictions can be understood as a cultural forum in dialogue with social media, digital communities and and live media events.
Ongoing project and networks:
A common film culture - Denmark and germany 1910-1930 (En fælles filmkultur? - Danmark og Tyskland i stumfilmtiden 1910-1930 (DFI/Københavns Universitet 2019-2023). I contribute with a project about celebrity culture in a transmedia perspective with focus on the Danish film stars Asta Nielsen. Link to "A Common Film Culture"
Nordic Celebrity Studies Network (2016-) Co-founder and co-chair of this Nordic research network investigating celebrity culture in culture and politics in Nordic cultural and social contexts.
