HERA project Mediating Cultural Encounters Through European Screens (MeCETES) receives 1 m. euros
Ib Bondebjerg (Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, UCPH), Andrew Higson (York University, UK) and Caroline Pauwels (VUB, Belgium) to lead a comparative European film and media project, running from June 1 2013 - June 1 2016. Three research teams in Copenhagen, York and Brussels to make comparative studies of the production, distribution and reception of specific TV and Film genres in all three countries. The premise for the project is that in modern societies mediated cultural encounters through film and television are important for our understanding and sense of what Europe and European culture is. Studies of cultural policy, the new digital platforms will be combined with interviews with key players in the film and television industry, production case studies and comparative audience studies.
